Organising Leaflet Delivery Staff Part 1

Organising Leaflet Delivery Staff Part 1

There are two common methods of organising leaflet delivery, distribution staff.

You can group them into teams or you can allow them to work solo.

If you carried out a study of other leaflet distributors you'd find both methods being used successfully.

Therefore you may end up having to try them both in order to see which one works best for you.

Team Deliverers

With leaflet delivery teams you usually have two or four people in a team.

Teams have the advantage of motivating each other; and you're also able to employ people who don't have a car, because they can be collected from home by another team member.

The downside however is that you'll need a team leader, teams don't work very well without a leader, so this will either have to be you or one of your team members.

Also you loose some flexibility when employing people. Some people won't be able to fit in with set working times; you may well miss employing a good member of staff due to this.

There is no doubt however that using teams gets leaflets out in a shorter space of time, provided you or a team leader possess good organisational skills; set delivery

targets and motivate the team to meet those targets. Using teams of leaflet deliverers will probably appeal to those of you who wish to maximise the number of leaflets delivered per day.

With this method leaflets are just counted out into hundreds and elastic banded. Each member of staff has their own box of leaflets which they pull from until empty.

The team just work there way through a locality usually in pairs each one working either side of the road, marking of the A to Z copy map as they go.

If you have more than one team then you'll have to plan how the teams are going to meet up at some stage of their work.

You'll also have to design a basic wage sheet for your team leader's to complete, in order for you to pay each staff member.

Selecting Team Leaders

When selecting team leaders look for staff members who've shown proven reliability, and, they must have transport in order to collect other team members if necessary.

They should be fast and efficient leaflet deliverers; they must be loyal, trustworthy and finally be able to motivate staff.

You will of course have to reward them; one way would be to pay them an override amount on the number of leaflets each leaflet deliverer delivers.
